In the early 1980s, a noted doctor, Michael Pariza, working at the University of Wisconsin and his colleagues published studies showing that CLA interfered with the growth of cancer tumors.

When breast adipose tissue was collected at the time of surgery, higher levels of CLA in the control group suggested CLA's protective effect against breast cancer.
